Antique Navy Blue Persian Kerman Rug D10532, Country of Origin / Rug Type: Persian Rugs, Circa Date: 1900 – The captivating, soft colors, and exquisite fine detail of this carpet make it recognizable as a Kerman masterpiece. This carpet was created around the turn of the 20th century and shows the superb artistry and skill of the Kerman weavers. Kerman is a city that was once known for the creation of carpets for the courts and aristocracy of the Safavid Dynasty. Their designs are known for their detail, and they have motion and flow from one area of the design to the next.
The high knot count allows for the creation of a level of detail that is mesmerizing. It also contributes to the supple, soft handle of the carpet. The close-clipped pile allows the design to remain crisp and fresh. The beautiful palette blends together like a fine watercolor painting. The paneled design of the carpet and black outlining gives it an Art Nouveau feel, even though this carpet relies entirely on traditional Persian design elements that go back several centuries.
The palette of the carpet is soft and inviting, bringing lightness into the room. The Navy blues, gentle pinks, and earthy neutral browns allow it to blend with historical and contemporary color palettes. The carpet uses soft shapes and curves to create upward motion. This also gives the carpet a feeling of grand scale that could easily complement larger architectural elements in the room.
The antique carpet has a feel that is refined and elegant. The all-over design is calm and balanced in both color and design. The artist used layers of complex borders in fine detail to offset the larger scale used in the field design of the carpet. The repeating pattern adds rhythm and cadence to the piece. The artist used several artistic principles to create a piece that is breathtaking and has an almost sublime quality.
Some carpets seem to have an exquisite combination of colors and designs that come together in a way that is almost magical. These rare pieces are a treasure to own, but for collectors and interior designers. This rug will be a treasured heirloom for many years to come.

Cyrus is very knowledgeable and is familiar with every rug in his shop. We second guessed our impulse purchase and Cyrus shipped the other choice. We then shipped the first rug back and without any hesitation, he credited the overage$. It was fun shopping in store but I’d be comfortable shopping on line. I recommend stopping in when in the neighborhood. Beautiful hand made Persian Gabbeh. Area rug and runner. We’ll be back.
