Antique Persian Farahan Mafrash Cargo Bag 2' x 4'

Description

This antique farahan Rug / Mafrash is in excellent condition, cleaned and no stained, the ends and bindings of the rug are intact as original and there has not been any repairs. There are no tears, breaks or holes.
The materials are from vegetable dyes wool pile over cotton foundation with leather accierisse . The pattern is geometric style.

Mafrash have been made in the largest numbers by Shahsevan tribal people and other groups in NW and across the border in Azerbaijan. Others were made in Georgia and Armenia. A majority are intricately woven soumak; others are slit-tapestry, sometimes with narrow contrasting soumak bands. Bags have been made by nomads for storage of bedding in their tents, and for use as cargo bags. They were normally made in pairs which could be balanced over the backs of camels on migration. In the marketplace, Mafrash were woven in three parts, and then assembled.

If you're interested in real persian rugs, high quality and hand made/craft, this place is one of the best within DC/VA/MD area. Their prices are fair, considering the fact that not every store has the real/genuine persian rugs, so you should consider higher values. They have other rugs with different origins, but if you compare side by side, the persian crafts with others, you will see the difference clearly. There are plenty of nice and pretty rugs, different sizes and styles, variety of colors, and different materials. The best are the silks rugs, and then the combination of silk/wool. Of course your budget is very important, bear in mind that for a medium quality 5'×3' size silk/wool rug, the minimum price tag is 800$. The store manager and associates are professional and polite, and calmly help you to find a nice rug within your budget limitation. I went there during a sale event, the deal items were good.
