Bokharas are a type of handmade Pakistani rug; also known as Bukharas or Bokaras. Most are based on Turkmen prototypes called Tekkes. Pakistani Bokhara rugs are among the most popular handmade rugs in the world. They are popular for their soft, luxurious feel, heavy pile, attractive colors and appearance that consist of repeating octagonal figures called guls, usually on fields of burgundy red, gray blue, Black or sometimes green.
