This hand knotted pile rug is made with all handspun silk. It was woven in a small cottage industry weaving project were all weaving takes place in individual weaver’s homes. This wonderful carpet is made using remnant, re-spun silk from the mill ends of sari looms. Sari silk is varied and irregular and carries some of the residual colors of the saris they would have been. The variation of tone and texture along with the natural shine of silk work in unison to create a visual feast. This luxurious and sophisticated modern rug is a beauty to the eye and so soft to the touch.
