Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, the perfect addition to any space seeking a touch of elegance and sophistication. This rug boasts a captivating design inspired by the renowned Ersari style, displaying a seamless blend of traditional and transitional elements.
Originating from Afghanistan, this rug showcases the rich heritage and craftsmanship of the ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari subtribe. Each strand of wool used in this masterpiece is sourced from sheep grazing in the mountainous terrain of the Ghazni Province in Southeast Afghanistan. The natural conditions of this region yield longer staple, oily wool of supreme quality, which is then transported to Herat, in the western part of Afghanistan. Here, the wool is meticulously carted and spun by hand, resulting in carpet yarn that is ready for weaving.
The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms, skillfully operated by the weavers in their own homes, imbuing each rug with a sense of authenticity and artistry. Employing the asymmetrical "Persian" knot technique, this rug showcases the mastery of these craftsmen. The foundation of the rug is crafted using a cotton warp and weft, ensuring durability and longevity. A luxurious wool pile, sourced from the Ghazni Province, completes the composition.
