Review
Hand knotted in northern Afghanistan by Turkmen women using New Zealand worsted wool/ silk. The radiating palette consists of rich reds, rust, various shades of browns, and just enough ivory to accentuate the intricate, geometric design. Part of the appeal of these types of carpets is experiencing the strong contrast between the “light” and “dark” sides of the rug. From one end (the end where the pile is running toward you) the colors will appear deeper, whereas from the opposite end the colors will appear lighter. As far as Fine Afghans go, this piece is exceptional.
