AntiqueTabriz Rug, Origin: Turkey, Circa: 1900 – A modern contemporary rug that calls to mind the superb antique rugs , the inimitable master craftspeople of the great rug producing center of Tabriz, this stunning carpet made in Samsun, Turkey features a subtle and evocative Khani design brilliantly linked by a thread-like latticework grid. Boasting an impressive all-over pattern that consists of beautifully done, tightly grouped floral motifs and comely, leafy palmettes, this gorgeous rug has an overall elegant and graceful, naturalistic feel to it. Indeed, the organic nature of the rug’s design aesthetic is enhanced by its intriguing and sophisticated color palette of a limited number of low-contrasting earth tones. Also featuring classic guard band-flanked borders, beautifully decorated with a well-defined Herati-leaf pattern, this rug is a fully crafted vision of classic elegance. Each aesthetic decision behind the design of this rug — and each decision’s masterful execution — have resulted in a piece that is simultaneously deeply evocative of its Tabriz influence and gorgeous to behold on the basis of its own artistic merit.

Cyrus is very knowledgeable and is familiar with every rug in his shop. We second guessed our impulse purchase and Cyrus shipped the other choice. We then shipped the first rug back and without any hesitation, he credited the overage$. It was fun shopping in store but I’d be comfortable shopping on line. I recommend stopping in when in the neighborhood. Beautiful hand made Persian Gabbeh. Area rug and runner. We’ll be back.
