Review
The tribal antique Caucasian Shirvan rugs are some of the finest and most sophisticated types of antique Caucasian rugs of the tribes of the Caucasus Mountains. This Shirvan rug features a recognizable diagonal stripe pattern that will add color to a Boho Chic or tribal room design. This gorgeous piece was created around the turn of the 20th century and is an excellent way to add a touch of color to your room.
One of the features that gives Caucasian Shirvan rugs their charm is the inclusion of “secondary” motifs tucked into the design so that they are almost hidden unless you look close. As demand for these captivating antique rugs grew, and productions increased, these little nuances disappeared. But this magnificent example still has them, even though many of its counterpart area rugs no longer included them.
One example of this is the little animal tucked into the left-hand edge of the boteh band. You will also notice that several of the dots in the center of the band are not dots but appear to be letters or writing. These little nuances are what give Shirvan rugs their character and are one of the reasons for their popularity.
