Beautiful And Tribal Antique Caucasian Kazak Rug, Country Of Origin: Caucasus, Circa Date: 1880 – The carpets of the Kazak people have been woven by the women who inhabit a part of the world that now includes modern Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. The designs are diverse and often include geometric shapes, medallions, complex fence borders, and symbols that hold special significance for the people of the region. This Kazak carpet from the 1880s uses vibrant colors and fascinating motifs that characterize carpets from this region.
One of the elements that makes this carpet stand out among Kazak carpets is the diversity and number of different symbols that you find throughout its design. Weavers pass down these traditional symbols and patterns through poetry, song, and a rich oral tradition. They build a repertoire over time, and this example indicates a weaver of exceptional skill and an extensive repertoire that only comes from experience.
Contemporary designers often begin with a rug that inspires and sparks the imagination, and then, use it to create the rest of the design. This is a statement piece that would be the perfect foundation for a modern room design. The antique carpet could easily take on a refined and composed character with the right furniture and accessories

Cyrus is very knowledgeable and is familiar with every rug in his shop. We second guessed our impulse purchase and Cyrus shipped the other choice. We then shipped the first rug back and without any hesitation, he credited the overage$. It was fun shopping in store but I’d be comfortable shopping on line. I recommend stopping in when in the neighborhood. Beautiful hand made Persian Gabbeh. Area rug and runner. We’ll be back.
