Review
Gorgeous antique Oriental rug, a truly beautiful Bidjar composition exhibiting all of the finest hallmarks of that style. Bidjar rugs are well known within the world of antique Persian rugs to have among the strongest, stiffest weaves of any style, earning them the moniker “iron rugs.” This fetching piece is no exception: it boasts all of the sturdiness for which these rugs are renowned. In addition to its strong foundation, this particular example is characterized by an absolutely gorgeous design of floral and vine scroll elements, set against a gorgeous deep blue background, against which the detail work is especially vibrant. This highly effective utilization of contrast gives an added dimension to the blue-Rust and pale red flowers and vine scroll work, giving the entire carpet the impression of depth. A beautiful composition, this antique Bidjar rug from Persia is as timelessly alluring as it is impeccably woven.
