Fine Hand Knotted ziegler sultanabad design rug 9'4'' X 11'11''

Description

This magnificent Ziegler Sultanabad rug above is one of the finest examples of its kind. It was housed in the dining room of Sigmund Freud’s home, 20 Maresfield Gardens, in Hampstead, London. In 1938, the renowned father of psychoanalysis arrived with his family in London as refugees from the Nazis in Vienna. They brought with them all of their possessions, including carpets and rugs, furniture, and a collection of his prized antiquities. Here his son Ernest and housekeeper Paula Fichtl recreated for him the same working environment that he had in Vienna. Freud bought most of his rug collection from dealers like his brother-in-law, Moritz Freud, 1857-1920 (same surname), who lived in Berlin. The field of this carpet has a stunning design of palmettes and tendrils strewn across a brilliant Beige ground that is elegantly complemented by the Rust ground border. The various beige and Ivory appear especially lovely against this foil of ivory and gold, Rust

GEORGE Constantinople

I was walking by Pasargad this week when I was stopped in my tracks by a beautiful 13' x 9' rug hanging in the window. Since I have worked with Pasargad before and know the excellent quality of their rugs and the exceptionally knowledgable and kind staff, I went right in, spoke to Cyrus, and again he advised me extremely well! I purchased the rug right away. Three days later, after the special rug pad had arrived from NYC, Muhammad and Pablo came to my apartment to deliver the rug and set it in place. They were simply excellent!!! They removed some furniture from my living room with great care before laying out the pad and rug. They were very patient and precise in their work and definitely knew what they were doing. The rug is now the "star" of my living room and only Pasargad with its "five stars" can top that!!! I am very grateful to Pasargad and recommend it very highly!!!
